In 2012, Forbes published an article highlighting a study presented at the SLEEP 2012 Conference in Boston.

The study examined 5,666 adults who were 45 years and older.

If you normally get less than 6 hours of sleep a night, the study suggested you may have 4 times the risk of suffering a stroke as someone who normally gets 8 hours of sleep a night.

And new research by the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, suggests middle-aged men who sleep 5 hours or less per night have twice the risk of suffering a stroke or heart attack than men who sleep between 7 and 8 hours a night.
